How the Cobalt Abortion Fund Works and What To Do Next

Get Support
Step 1: Submit Your Application Toggle Accordion

We will reach out to you in 24-48 normal business hours.

  • Please keep an eye on your email (including your spam folder) and your phone for communication from us.
  • We will usually call or text you to start the funding process, but only if you let us know it is safe for us to do so. We take your communication safety answers seriously.
  • We may email you to let you know we will reach out closer to your appointment date, if we need you to do something before we contact you, or to share other information.

Please note, we will be reaching out to you via email in addition to the method you indicate as your preference. If it is unsafe for you to receive an email from Cobalt Abortion Fund, please do not submit an intake form and ask the clinic you are scheduled at to contact us on your behalf.

Step 2: Our Coordinator Reaches Out Toggle Accordion

We use a case management style, and once we have connected with you, we will work with you to figure out what your procedure funding and/or travel needs are.

  • With your consent, we may refer you to other abortion funds or organizations to ensure your support needs are covered
  • If there are clinics closer to where you live, we may refer you to a clinic and abortion funds in your region
Step 3: We Provide Funding Support Toggle Accordion

We will work with you, the clinic you are scheduled at, and if necessary, other funds to try to reduce funding gaps as much as possible before your appointment.

  • If you need help with travel, we will book travel arrangements before your appointment. We typically make these bookings on your behalf and send you the necessary information before your travel dates.
  • For procedure funding, we work directly with the clinic you are scheduled at to make sure they receive our funding before your appointment. We may also coordinate with other funds and organizations to help cover any gaps, if needed.
Step 4: Post Support Follow-Up Toggle Accordion

Once your appointment is over, we can follow up with you to make sure everything went okay, if you are comfortable with us reaching back out.

We will also send you a feedback form via email and opportunities for you to share your story if you would like to. There is never any pressure to follow up or share your story, your privacy and comfort are extremely important to us.
