Cobalt Abortion Fund is the largest independent abortion fund in the state of Colorado.

We break down the barriers that abortion seekers face by providing direct financial assistance, including but not limited to procedure funding, travel, lodging, childcare, and meal support.

Cobalt Abortion Fund provides client-centered support to abortion seekers, regardless of income, residency, or how far along in pregnancy they are.

How It Works

Abortion seekers, or a support person on their behalf, can fill out a funding intake form, and our team will reach out to start the funding process. We provide two types of support for abortion seekers accessing care at one of Cobalt Abortion Fund’s partner clinics:

Procedural Funding: Direct financial assistance for abortion care.
Practical Support Funding: Financial support for clients’ basic needs to access abortion care, such as but not limited to travel, lodging, and meal support.

If a client is scheduled at a clinic we are not currently partnered with, we may be able to provide solidarity funding towards their abortion care on a case-by-case basis.

About Partnering

Cobalt Abortion Fund understands that abortion bans disproportionately impact marginalized communities, and we seek to be a welcoming, safe, and equitable resource for all.

We are committed to eliminating financial barriers to accessing essential healthcare. We will use clients’ correct names and pronouns. We work with a translation service to ensure we can communicate with our clients in a language they are comfortable with. We offer funding to all abortion seekers regardless of gestational age, residency, income, age, religion, marital status, immigration status, physical ability, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, race, or ethnicity.

Our Values and Commitments

Autonomy

We provide our clients with resources so they can make their own reproductive decisions.

Community

We make connections with trusted clinics, abortion funds, and practical support organizations to provide comprehensive, client-centered care.

Equality

We understand that abortion bans and the legal system that upholds them are based on racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, misogyny, and classism, and we strongly oppose these and all forms of oppression.

Liberation

We understand that reproductive health intersects with various forms of systemic oppression. As a Reproductive Rights organization, we follow the lead of Reproductive Justice organizations that have created a platform towards true reproductive liberation.

Pro-Abortion

We oppose stigma and shame around abortion, and respect each individual’s feelings about their abortion experiences.

Safety

We provide abortion seekers with referrals to legitimate abortion clinics that prioritize patient safety, both in physical and emotional health.

Solidarity

We respect our clients as individuals and equals, and seek to affirm their right to the resources that should be available to them.

Support

We do our best to work with our clients to break down barriers to accessing abortion care by providing financial and practical support in a client-centered way without restrictions on income, gender, residency, gestational limits, language, or documentation status.

Cobalt Advocates

Cobalt Advocates is the 501(c)4 advocacy and political arm of Cobalt. We take positions on abortion rights bills and issues at the municipal, state, and federal levels, hold officeholders accountable on those issues, and endorse candidates. We use our grassroots organizational power to elect pro-abortion rights legislators, and we financially support candidates and officeholders at the municipal, state, and federal levels who share our values. We are one of the most successful political organizations in the state, with over 75% of our endorsed candidates winning their races.

Story sharing is a powerful tool for connection, community, and breaking down stigma. Sharing your own story can be a source of strength and healing, while reading others’ stories can offer comfort and remind you that you’re not alone during difficult times. The decision to share an abortion story is deeply personal and solely up to the storyteller.
